Armed Suspect Killed in Officer Involved Shooting
According to officer David Fuller, on Sunday April 23rd at approximately 4:10pm officers responded to the 900 block of Hope Street after receiving a report of a subject firing multiple shots from a gun. The release stated upon arrival, officers encountered an armed suspect who repeatedly fired gunshots from within the house and into nearby occupied structures as well as the direction of officers. Neighbors would evacuated as the Special Weapons and tactics team was called into assist the situation, the release stated. Negations were initiated but the suspect continued to confront officers with a firearm and was shot by a Prescott police officer and announced dead at the scene, according to the release. The name of the officer and suspect were not released.

Attend Ninth Annual Prescott Chalk It Up
Thousands of artists spent their weekend in the parking lot of the National Bank of Arizona in Prescott drawing pictures with chalk in the ninth annual “Chalk It Up”. While the final numbers have yet to be released, the first day alone provided $16,000 for the West Yavapai Guidance Clinic Foundation.

Over Eighty Golfers Participate at Inaugural Prescott Valley Police Foundation Tournament
Eighty-seven golfers were at StoneRidge Golf Course on Sunday participating in the innagural Prescott Valley Police Foundation Golf Tournament and Ball Drop. Participants competed for score related prizes and bought extra items such as raffle tickets for prizes.

Special Olympic Athletes Compete at Bradshaw Mountain High School
It was a bit toasty but that didn’t stop special olympic athletes from participating in the regional games at Bradshaw Mountain High School on Saturday. The regional featured many events and over three-hundred volunteers.

Chick Fil A Is Really Coming!
Town of Prescott Valley residents finally have a time-period for the opening of Chick-Fil-A. The town of Prescott Valley announced via their Facebook page that the restaurant would open in early 2018.

Seven Year Old Boy Recognized for Efforts In Saving Grandmother
Seven-year-old Seth Miller was honored during his classes at Abia Judd last week by the Prescott Fire Department as he helped his grandmother after she broke her leg while the two were hiking on the Constellation Trail. The day was getting late so Miller walked to an area where he could get reception and call 911, later leading the firefighters to his injured grandmother.

Embry Riddle Inducts Three to Athletics Hall of Fame
Embry Riddle All American wrestler Derek Sanders, soccer standout Kelsey Anderson and volleyball star Isabela (Lachowski) Martinet were each inducted into the 2017 Embry Riddle Athletics Hall of Fame class during the University’s Gala on Friday night. Each gave a speech and enjoyed a night of recognition.
