Cash Stolen from Church-Based Donation Box in Yarnell
According to Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office Media Relations Coordinator Dwight D’ Evelyn, on February 8th around 8 am, it was discovered the donation lock box for the Shrine of Saint Josephs of the Mountain located on the 16900 block of Shrine Drive in Yarnell had been forced open and seven hundred dollars was stolen as the thief only left behind a few smaller bills in what looked to be a smash and grab style theft. The suspect has not be found according to the release and the department is asking anyone with information to contact the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office at 928-771-3260 or report anonymously to Yavapai Silent Witness at 1-800-932-3232.

Basis Prescott Students Take First In Northern Arizona Math Competition
Basis Prescott announced that last Friday, February 3rd, that the school brought 23 mathematicians from grade six to eight to compete in the Northern Arizona Math Competition at Prescott High School. According to the release, Basis Prescott won the competition with 20 of 24 students earning placement in the top ten against 158 others including participants from Phoenix. Additionaly, Basis’ Ivan Marriot, was the first sixth grader in the competition’s history to take home the overall championship with the highest score across the grade levels, the release stated.

Baby Lemur Has New Home at Heritage Park Zoo
According to Alex Schoop of the Heritage Park Zoo, a baby lemeur will now call the zoo home. In honor of the lemur’s new home, the zoo is holding a naming poll on social media from February 13th to March 17th and the final choices are Oliver, Pogo, Spock and Theo, the release stated.

Hundreds Enjoy Last Public Skate at Prescott Valley Event Center
Hundreds took to the ice one final time on Sunday at the Prescott Valley Event Center as the public ice skating season came to an end. While many were disappointed to see the ice go, Prescott Valley Event Center Director of Business Development Satish “Catfish” Athelli would like year-round ice skating in the future. However, today the staff is busy destroying the ice following the end of the hockey and ice skating season before it returns later in 2017.

John Dwyer of Prescott and Keller Rock of Chino Take First in Wrestling State Tournament
Local schools did very well at this weekends, Arizona wrestling playoffs at the Prescott Valley Event Center as Prescott senior John Dwyer took first and Chino Valley’s Keller Rock became the first freshman in school history to take home a first place medal.

Northern Arizona Suns
The Northern Arizona Suns had a tough time on the defensive side of the court on Saturday allowing 114 points in a 114-103 loss. The defeat drops the Northern Arizona Suns to 14-17 as the NAZ continues their season long road trip today against the Long Island Nets at 11:30am.
