Northern Arizona Suns
The Northern Arizona Suns had a tough time on the defensive side of the court on Saturday allowing 114 points in a 114-103 loss. The defeat drops the Northern Arizona Suns to 14-17 as the NAZ continues their season long road trip today against the Long Island Nets at 11:30am.
Arizona High School Wrestling Playoffs
Local schools did very well at this weekends, Arizona high school wrestling playoffs at the Prescott Valley Event Center as Prescott senior John Dwyer took first and Chino Valley’s Keller Rock became the first freshman in school history to take home a first place medal. Meanwhile, Bradshaw Mountain seniors Jacob Kidd and Olijah Sally both medaled with Kidd taking second and Sally taking fifth in their respective weight classes.

Prescott High School Soccer
The season for the Prescott High School Badgers girl’s soccer team was cut short on Wednesday at the semi-final match against Thunderbird High School at Williams Field High School as the team fell 1-0 and was eliminated from playoff contention. Overall the team went 15-6-2 on the year with a 5-1 section record and had won seven straight games before the defeat.

Chino Valley Cougars Basketball
The Chino Valley Cougars Boy’s basketball team ended the regular season on Thursday with a 70-55 road win against River Valley. Overall, the Cougars went 17-12 with a 6-4 section record and will compete in the 2017 AIA Boys Basketball State Championships entering as the #24 seed and take on #9-seeded Winslow on road Wednesday at 6:30pm. Meanwhile, the girl’s basketball team ended their season with a 55-26 loss on the road against River Valley. The final record for the team is 8-17 as the team struggled to a 1-9 section mark.
Embry Riddle Eagles
It was a tough day Saturday on the road for the Embry Riddle basketball teams as the Eagles men’s squad fell to The Benedictine University at Mesa Redhawks 80-75 while the women dropped their match on the road against the Redhawks 72-67. Both teams are back on the home court on Thursday against University of Antelope Valley as the women tip-off at 5:30pm while the men begin at 7:30pm.
Yavapai College Roughriders
Yavapai College wrapped a good weekend on the diamond Saturday going 3-1 in Henderson Nevada picking up wins against College of Southern Idaho, Utah State University Eastern and Salt Lake City College. Roughriders now stand a 7-5 on the year as the team prepares to take on Benedictine University at Mesa Tuesday at 12:00pm and 2:30pm in Mesa.
Meanwhile, the Roughrider softball team offense showed up in a doubleheader win on Saturday against Pima Community College. In game one, Yavapai College put 12 on the board against the Aztecs in a 12-4 victory and in game two, the offensive continued with a 15-2 blowout win. Roughriders softball returns to the diamond on the road Tuesday against Glendale Community College at 1:00pm and 3:00pm
Arizona Coyotes
The Arizona Coyotes picked up their second win in three games on Saturday, beating the Pittsburg Penguins 4-3 in a shootout. Coyotes now stand at 18-28-7 on the campaign as the team prepares for a three game road trip starting against Calgary tonight at 7pm.
Phoenix Suns
The Phoenix Suns dismal effort on the defensive glass continued on Saturday night as the team coughed up 133 points to the Rockets in a 133-102 loss. Phoenix is now 17-38 on the year as the Suns prepare for a matchup against New Orleans tonight at home. Tip-off is 7pm.
