NORTHERN ARIZONA SUNS
The Northern Arizona Suns thought they were finally going to break the losing streak on Saturday night in Reno against the Bighorns before Lamar Patterson drained a go-ahead three pointer as time expired in overtime and beat the Suns 91-89. The NAZ Suns have now lost nine straight games after winning eight straight earlier. NAZ Suns look to turn it around on Tuesday against the Oklahoma City Blue at the Prescott Valley Event Center. Tip-off is 6:30pm.
PRESCOTT BADGERS
The Prescott Badgers mens basketball team was able to pick up a nail-biting victory that went down to the wire against Red Rock on Saturday 58-57. The win pushes the team’s record to 9-6 overall with a 1-3 section mark. Next up for the Badgers is a road game against Mohave on Tuesday at 7pm. Meanwhile, it has been a tough season for the Badgers womens basketball team as the squad lost to Lee Williams 40-28 on Tuesday. Badgers look to turn it around against Mohave on the road against Mohave. Tip-off is 5:30pm.
It was a fantastic week for the Prescott High School womens soccer team as the team outscored both opponents in the week by a combined score of 15-1. The two victories push the team’s overall record to 8-3-2 with a 1-0 section record. Badgers are back on the field on Thursday for a road game against Flagstaff. Game-time is 3pm.
BRADSHAW MOUNTAIN BEARS
The Bradshaw Mountain Bears mens basketball team won a close game against Mohave on the road Tuesday night in overtime 66-61. Bears are back on the court Tuesday night against Tempe at 7pm going on the road for two straight. Meanwhile, The Bradshaw Mountain Bears womens team won their second straight game on Tuesday beating Mohave 56-24. The Bears continue the four-game road trip on Tuesday against Tempe. Tip-off is 7pm.
After a 2-0 loss to Coronado on Wednesday, the Bradshaw Mountain Bears mens soccer team responded with a 2-1 victory over Coconino on Thursday. The Bears start a three game road swing against Flagstaff on Tuesday at 3pm. The Bears womens team picked up a win on Wednesday 1-0 over Coronado. The Flagstaff Eagles visit Bradshaw Mountain on Monday for a game against the Bears at 6pm.
CHINO VALLEY COUGARS
The Chino Valley Cougars mens basketball team lost their second game in a row on Friday 71-43 against Red Rock on the road. The Cougars now sit at .500 on the season with a 7-7 record. Cougars are back home for a matchup against Kingman on Tuesday with a 7pm tip-off. The Cougars womens basketball team also didn’t have much luck on Friday against Red Rock losing on the road 58-25. Cougars next game is a home game against Kingman at 5:30pm before heading out on the road for three straight.
MILE HIGH WRESTLING CHALLENGE.
The local schools did well at the Mile High Wrestling Challenge on Monday as Prescott High School, Bradshaw Mountain and Chino Valley combined to have 14 competitors who placed in the competition. Check out the full story with pictures on Prescott Valley eNews.com.
PHOENIX SUNS
The Phoenix Suns had their two-game winning streak snapped as the team lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers at home 120-116 on Sunday night. Suns record drops to 12-26 good for 13th in the Western Conference. Phoenix continues the home stand with the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday at 8pm.
ARIZONA COYOTES
The Arizona Coyotes finally broke the losing streak on Saturday beating the New York Islanders 2-1 in a shootout. Coyotes look to keep the positive momentum going on Friday against the Winnepeg Jets.
