Greg Mengarelli to Run for Prescott Mayor
There is a new candidate for Prescott Mayor as Greg Mengarelli has picked up a packet to run according to Dana DeLong, Prescott’s City Clerk. Mengarelli is currently serving as the President of the Prescott Unified School District Governing Board and will be running against Mary Beth Hrin and Jean Wilcox who have also indicated their intentions to run for mayor.

Officer Involved Shooting in Prescott Valley
Sgt. Jason Kaufman released last week that on Wednesday April 5th at approximately 10:59pm, were patrolling Mountain Valley Park looking for trespassers when they observed a white male walking northbound on foot. Police tried to contact and identify the subject and after the subject was told to stop, he pulled a gun and began firing, according to the release. Dispatch was called for assistance as the officers and suspect exchanged shots before a unmarked police car noticed the subject and struck him with the vehicle, the release stated. While no name was released in the statement, the man is known to law enforcement and was taken into custody after being treated by the Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority and sent to the hospital. The release stated no officers sustained serious injuries.

New Director at Yavapai County Community Heath Services
According to David McAtee, Leslie Horton officially became the Yavapai County Community Health Services Director on Sunday, after serving as interim director following the departure of Stephen Tullos in March. The release stated Horton has a Bachelor’s Degree in Community Health Education and a Master of Administration with an emphasis in Public Health from Northern Arizona University and has worked for YCCHS for 14 years, beginning as an intern in 2002.

New Horizons Opens Disability Resource Center
New Horizons opened a brand new Disability Resource Center on Thursday afternoon following months of hard work outfitting a donated building to the needs of the disabled community. Currently, the facility features an adaptive computer lab, a sports and fitness area with machines dedicated to aiding those with disabilities not found in normal fitness centers, along with helpful information about services such as transportation. In the future, the hope is to add a wheelchair soccer and basketball court. The Disability Resource Center is located at 9400 E. Valley Road in Prescott Valley and is open from 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday, and also is a fragrance free building.

Thousands Enjoy Eggstravaganza at Prescott Valley Civic Center
It might have been windy and just a little chilly but that didn’t stop thousands from attending the 18th annual Eggstravaganza at the Prescott Valley Civic Center on Saturday morning. The event featured a climbing wall, bounce houses, petting zoo and a 10,000 plastic egg hunt.
