NORTHERN ARIZONA SUNS
The season might be over the Northern Arizona Suns but Eli Millsap isn’t done playing as the guard was called up by the Phoenix Suns and signed to a multi-year deal, the NAZ Suns announced over the weekend. Millsap lead the NAZ Suns during their inaugural season in scoring, steals, minutes and double-doubles. He will join his eight NBA franchise and wear number 22.
PRESCOTT BADGERS
The Prescott Badgers baseball team picked up a road victory on Friday, beating the Higley Knights 4-3 after a crushing 2-1 extra inning loss against Lee Williams at home on Thursday. The victory was their third in the last four as the overall record stands at 5-6 with a region mark of 2-4. It’s rivalry week as the Bradshaw Mountain Bears visit Prescott High School on Tuesday before a road game against the Bears on Thursday. First pitch on Tuesday is 3:30pm.
Meanwhile, the Badgers’ softball team didn’t have much difficulty with Lee Williams on the road Wednesday, beating the Volunteers 23-1 to pick up their fourth win in five games. Now with an overall record of 9-3 a 5-2 region record, the Badgers face the rival Bradshaw Bears on the road Tuesday before returning home on Thursday to face the Bears agin. Both first pitches are 3:45pm.
The struggles continue for a young Badgers’ volleyball team as Prescott High School lost against the Verrado Vipers on the road Wednesday. The team sits at a 1-15 record heading into a home matchup against the Peoria Panthers on Tuesday at 5:00pm.
BRADSHAW MOUNTAIN BEARS
Bradshaw Mountain’s baseball team couldn’t complete the sweep against the Mohave Thunderbirds on Thursday, dropping the road matchup 6-4 after mercy-ruling the Thunderbirds at home 11-0 on Tuesday. The overall record drops to .500 at 5-5 while the region mark is 4-5. The Bears will host the rival Badgers on Tuesday before traveling the short distance to Prescott High School on Thursday. First pitch is 3:30pm on Tuesday.
It has been a struggle recently for the Bears’ softball team as the squad dropped a matchup against Mohave on Thursday 11-10. The defeat was their third in the last four. The team still stands with a 6-5 overall record while going 4-5 in region action. Bradshaw Mountain softball will travel to Prescott High School for a matchup with the Badgers on Tuesday before returning home for another game against Prescott High School on Thursday. Both first pitches are 3:45pm.
CHINO VALLEY COUGARS
The Chino Valley Cougars baseball team lost their third matchup out of the last four on Saturday with a defeat against the Campo Verde Cowboys at home 7-3. Even with the recent struggles, the Cougars still hold a 8-4 overall record and a 4-1 West Region mark. Chino Valley High School starts a three game road swing on Tuesday with a game against the River Valley Dust Devils at 6:30pm.
The Cougars softball team also didn’t have much luck on Saturday against Campo Verde at home, losing 16-4. The defeat drops the overall record to 5-6 but remain at .500 in the region at 2-2. Cougars hit the road on Tuesday for a game against the River Valley Dust Devils at 6:30pm.
YAVAPAI COLLEGE ROUGHRIDERS
The first-place ACCAC Yavapai College Roughrider softball team split a doubleheader against the second-place Central Arizona College on Saturday, losing game one 4-2 in extra innings before responding in game two for a 3-0 win. The Roughriders keep control of first place and win the series 4-3 against Central Arizona College. Yavapai College continues to set the league on fire with a 38-5 record and a 34-4 mark in ACCAC play. Next up is a conference road doubleheader against Arizona Western College on Tuesday. First pitch is noon.
Meanwhile, the Roughrider baseball team had the bats working in a doubleheader sweep at Roughrider Park on Saturday, beating Mesa Community College 10-9 and 14-5. The victories brings the Roughrider overall record to 26-18 and to .500 in ACCAC play at 12-12. More conference action is on tap for Yavapai College as the Roughriders hit the road Tuesday for a doubleheader against Paradise Valley Community College. First pitch is noon.
EMBRY RIDDLE EAGLES
The Embry Riddle Eagles softball team lost their sixth game in a row on Saturday, falling to Benedictine University on the road 8-7 in extra innings. The overall record drops to 16-30 with a 5-6 conference record. The Eagles look to break the streak in a doubleheader against Marymount California University at home on Friday. First pitch is 2pm.
ARIZONA COYOTES
The Arizona Coyotes couldn’t end the season with a victory on Saturday, losing to the Minnesota Wild 3-1. The Coyotes end the season with a 30-42-10 record, good for sixth in the Pacific Division.
PHOENIX SUNS
Haven’t said this in a while, the Phoenix Suns have won two straight games! The team beat the Dallas Mavericks at home on Sunday 124-111. Now with a 24-57 record, the Phoenix Suns look to keep it rolling against the Sacramento Kings on the road Tuesday. Tip-off is 7:30pm.
ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS
Finally, the Arizona Diamondbacks continue at their hot start with a sweep of the defending American League Champion Cleveland Indians after taking three of four from the rival San Francisco Giants. D-backs hit the road for a ten-game road swing which will take them through San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego. It all starts against the Giants on Monday at 1:35pm.
