Recently, the Boys and Girls Club of Central Arizona announced April’s inaugural “Dancing for the Stars” event raised over $130,000 for the organization.
A fundraising spin on the popular reality show on CBS “Dancing with the Stars”, which features celebrities dancing with professionals and battling others for the top prize, The Boys and Girls Club worked for seven months planning the event and recruiting local celebrities to participate
Five-hundred people came out to see the show while hundreds others watched the fundraiser streamed on television.
Boys and Girls Club of Central Arizona Devolpment Director Kristen Kerns mentioned planning for next year’s “Dancing for the Stars” has already started and looks to be bigger and better with new celebrities participating. As for the money raised in the inaugural event, Kerns mentioned the organization will use the money for youth programs after school and during the summer.
