Prescott Valley Event Center Secures National Events Management Company
Our top story this week, starting today, Spectra Venue Management will begin it’s management-consulting agreement with the Prescott Valley Event Center. The company which is based in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, is a national venue management organization which specializes in managing and executing events. The company is involved in multiple venues across the United States ranging from sports facilities to convention cents, performing arts centers, state fairs and much more. Scott Norton has been tabbed as General Manager of the Prescott Valley Event Center. Norton has experience in event management spending the last twelve years as Director of Marketing and Public Relations for University of Phoenix Stadium, home to the Arizona Cardinals, 2017 NCAA Final Four and many other events.

Prescott Council Receives Thousands of Postcards in Support of Library
Barry Barbe, owner of El Gato Azul restaurant in downtown Prescott, is looking to remind people how important the library is to the town so he is heading an effort in which council members will receive 100 handwritten letters every week in support of the library. There are rumblings that due to budget issues, the library may no longer remain free or may cut back on hours. However, a recent proposition, which would add a 3/4th cent sales tax, may resolve the issue.

Town of Prescott Valley to Undertake Major Intersection Expansion
According to the Town of Prescott Valley’s Heidi Dahms Foster, the town will begin undertaking a 2.4 million dollar project to expand the intersection of Glassford Hill Road and Long Look Dr. this month. The release sated the intersection has been experiencing congestion at peak commuter hours and the work will expand traffic lanes from five to nine on Glassford Hill Road and from three to six at Long Look Drive along with a new signal light. According to the release, the construction will begin to ramp up when school concludes for the summer with a expected completion date of July 28th.

German and Northpoint Students Learn About Each Other’s Culture
Over the next couple of weeks, 21 students from a high school in Frankfurt Germany are visiting Northpoint high school where they are living and going to school with their American hosts. The program is part of a culture emersion goal for the two schools where each school will host every other year.

Basis Prescott Students Excel in Academics, Music and Athletics
The awards keep flowing in for students at Basis Prescott as Jackson Nichols was nominated as a National Merit Finalist, meanwhile, Ericka Gustafson, Caroline Dixon and Charles Longacre were recently selected to perform in an elite regional orchestra made up of students from a dozen schools across northern Arizona. Finally, Anthony Black picked up the state title in wrestling after going undefeated in the 113-pound weight class during the first year of a wrestling program at Basis.

Arsenic and Old Lace at Prescott Valley Performing Arts
Arsenic and Old Lace is currently on stage at Prescott Valley Performing Arts. The story revolves around Mortimer Brewster and his attempt to work through a mess created by his insane family members. The show also is trying a educational experiment as it features four directors-all who are on stage acting at the same time. Prescott Valley Performing Arts serves up a heap of laughter with a side of death Friday at 7pm and Saturday at 2:30pm and 7pm. Tickets are $12 online and at the door.
