New PAC to Support 3/4 Cent Sales Tax: ‘Stand for Prescott’
The City of Prescott has an unfunded pension liability of more than $78 million dollars as poor investment returns and other issues with the legally mandated, state-run Public Safety Personnel Retirement System has created a huge deficit. Recently, local citizens formed the Political Action Committee called ‘Stand for Prescott’ and filed their statement of Organization last week to begin their campaign. Proposition 443, if enacted, would cause a 3/4 cent to the city sales tax in the hope of paying down the city’s unfunded liability.

Control Burn Scheduled for Mingus Mountain
According to Debbie Maneely, Fire Manager on the Verde Ranger District will conduct controlled burning on Mingus Mountain today through Friday March 24th, weather permitting. According to the release, the locations are near the summer homes, north and south of communication towers and areas along Forest Road 413, 105 and 132. Smoke will be visible in the immediate area and some forest roads may be affected but no closures are anticipated, the release stated.

Paver Repair at the Gurley/Cortez Intersection
The City of Prescott announced last week that street maintenance crews will be repairing pavers on the southwest corner of Gurley Street and Cortez Street intersection, beginning today. According to the release, work will be performed from 9AM to 3PM and will continue on Tuesday from 7am to 3pm with no work done on Wednesday before resuming on Thursday and Friday from 7am to 3pm. The release stated traffic impact is expected to be minimal, however, the schedule is weather permitting.

Planned 4-Hour Water Service Interruption at PCC Vigilante Pointe
Meanwhile, the Town of Prescott Valley announced last week that water service would be interrupted for four hours at PCC Vigilante Point for improvement at 10pm on Thursday March 23rd. The town is encouraging members in the effected areas of Vigilante Point, Maverick Trail, Hackamore Heights, Rawhidge Ridge, Horn Pass and 12075 Highway 69 to fill up containers for drinking cooking or bathing purposes and fill up the bath tub in order to provide additional water to be used during the shutdowns.

Teens Enjoy 3D Printer at Prescott Valley Public Library
Recently, teens got a chance to get their hands on some new-age equipment at the Prescott Valley Library as they got to enjoy creating objects on a 3D Printer. The teens made items from the Legend of Zelda video game while learning how the device works. The library has many new-age opportunities for teens as a coding club is also hosted every Friday.
