Prescott Valley Well Arsenic Level Exceeds Standards in February of 2017

According to the town of Prescott Valley’s Heidi Dahms Foster, residents are being notified that a well in the water system tested for arsenic at a level higher than the Federal standard in February of 2016. The release stated a follow up sample showed a standard levels and no additional arsenic related sampling was conducted. The error was discovered by the town’s water system operator during the preparation of the annual water quality report which is distributed to water users. Prescott Valley Utilities director Neil Wadsworth was mentioned in the report stating the well was not in operation at the time of the testing. The well is one of twenty active wells in the community and during the winter months, less wells are used as opposed to the summer, according to the release.

Prescott Job Fair Is Coming

Individuals looking for a job must mark Friday March 31st on the calendar as the 2017 Prescott Job Fair will be taking place at the Yavapai Community College Gymnasium from 9AM-1PM. According to Laura Warne, nearly 50 employers will be on hand with hiring information. Meanwhile, it is stated the for employers, the last day to sign up for a booth is March 16th.

Three Firefighters Graduate Academy

The community will begin seeing Russell Geier Smith, Jace Hall and Caden Burch soon as the three graduated from the Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority Firefighter Academy last week. In order for one to graduate from the academy, they must go through extreme heat, tight spaces and daily workouts.

Prescott Valley Police Department Citizen’s Academy

Over 25 people brought their pens, pencils and notebooks to the Prescott Valley Police Department on Wednesday to begin an 11-week course to learn about their local department. Returning after a five-year hiatus, the program will teach participants everything from arrest procedures to what it takes to become a police officer.
