Suspect Making 'Mass Killing' Social Media Threats Arrested
According to Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office Media Coordinator Dwight D’ Evelyn, On January 25th around 10:30am, YCSO detectives received an anonymous tip regarding a Facebook post by a person who identified as Thomas Hunter showing a picture of Hunter and stating “Anyone going on a mass killing spree with me?” adding that he already had prey picked out with some fun way to bring about death and leave “some of the most entertaining crime scenes ever imagined,” the release stated.
Detectives quickly checked into Hunter’s background and discovered his address which was about a block away from a school with a direct view of the playground with another being located in Prescott Valley, according to the release. Humboldt Elementary, which was close to one of the houses, was put on lockdown, according to the release. Deputes found the suspect after not locating Hunter at the address in Prescott Valley, the release stated.
According to the release, Hunter claimed the post was a joke but was arrested on a charge of incite/induce to promote terror and was booked at the Camp Verde Detention Center and remained in custody at a $20,000 bond.

Lynx Lake Prohibitions
According to Public Affairs Specialist Debbie Maneely, prohibitions along John’s Trail in the Prescott National Forest east of Lynx Lake were enacted on January 23rd in effort to protect the nesting bald eagles from human disturbance during the nesting season. The release stated John’s Tank Trail #94 will be closed to all used while Lynx Lake shore #311 and the Salida Gulch Trail #95 will remain open for respective uses. A map of the closures can be found on the Prescott National Forest website and at the Bradshaw Ranger District Office.

70 Miles of New Trail in Prescott Basin Area
Also according to Maneely, 70 miles will be added to the trail system in and around the Prescott basis which includes 60 miles non-motorized, 10 miles motorized, 30 miles rerouted to address natural resource concerns, 40 miles of new trail construction and 34 miles of old trail removed, mitigated, obliterated and decommissioned as well as two newly created trail heads and six trailheads improved and enlarged.
According to the release, the proposal is a culmination of years of citizen, user, local and state government to develop a recreation strategy for Central Arizona that focused efforts on understanding what activities were already being enjoyed by patrons and what needed to be improved.

Ducey Education Spending Good Start but Humboldt District Needs More
Governor Doug Ducey recently announced more of a focus on education for Arizona in his 2018 fiscal budget, which includes $114 million dollars being invested in K-12 education beyond inflation and enrollment growth. While this is a good start, Humboldt Unified School District Dan Streeter mentioned in an interview with eNews more is needed to recover from a teacher shortage across the state. Northern Arizona Suns
It has been a struggle of late for the Northern Arizona Suns as the team continues to slide and lost their fourth straight game on Saturday 108-103. Suns are at the Prescott Valley Event Center from a long road trip on Wednesday for a 6:30 pm tipoff against the Salt Lake City Stars.
