NORTHERN ARIZONA SUNS

After losing nine straight games, the Northern Arizona Suns jumped back by winning two straight last week culminating with a 121-90 victory over the Grand Rapids Drive in front of nearly 2500 fans at the Prescott Valley Event Center.

Next up is the D-League Showcase for the Northern Arizona Suns as the team takes on the Oklahoma City Blue on Wednesday and the Austin Spurs on Friday before heading out on the road for two more. NAZ Suns don’t return home to the Prescott Valley Event Center until February 1st for a 6:30 pm matchup against the Salt Lake City Stars.

PRESCOTT HIGH SCHOOL BADGERS

The Marcos De Niza Padres were too much to handle for the Prescott High School men’s basketball team at home on Friday as the Badgers lost 90-64. The defeat breaks a two-game winning streak and drops the Badger’s record to 10-7 with a 2-3 section mark. Badgers will have the chance to rebound on Tuesday at home against Mingus.

Abby Chartier lead the team with 16 points 6 rebounds and 3 steals as the Badgers women’s basketball team picked up their second win of the week on Friday beating Macros De Niza on the road 51-25. Badgers’ current record stands at 5-10 with a 1-4 section mark as the team prepares to play Mingus at home on Tuesday at 5:30pm.

The Badgers men’s soccer team finished up the home stretch of their schedule on Thursday losing against Flagstaff 4-3. It has been a struggle as the team has yet to pick up a win this season and will end the campaign with three straight road games starting against Coconino on Tuesday at 3pm.

Meanwhile, the Badger women’s soccer team fell on the road to Flagstaff Thursday 2-0. Badgers drops to 8-4-2 with a 1-1 section mark as the team looks to respond against Coconino Tuesday at Prescott High School with a 3pm start time.

BRADSHAW MOUNTAIN BEARS

It was a tough week for the Bradshaw Mountain Bears men’s basketball team as the squad dropped both their games last week, falling Friday on the road against Coconino 54-43. Bears conclude a short two game road swing with a matchup against Flagstaff on Tuesday at 7pm.

The Bears women’s basketball team split their two games last week beating Tempe on the road Tuesday 57-41 before losing to Coconino 55-27 on Friday. Bears women’s team whose record stands at 11-7 with a 4-3 section mark completes the four game road streak with a matchup against Flagstaff on Tuesday at 5:30pm.

It’s been a good start to 2017 for The Bears men’s soccer team who have won three straight games culminating with a 6-0 blowout of Lee Williams on the road Thursday. The team has improved the record to 5-7 with a spotless 3-0 section mark. Bears look to keep it going with their last road game of the year against Mingus Tuesday at 5pm.

The Bears women’s team has also been on a winning streak of their own winning the last two with a 2-1 road victory against Coconino on Saturday. Bears who now stand at 4-6-2 on the year with a 2-1 section record, return home on Tuesday for a 6pm start time against Mingus.

The Bradshaw Mountain Bears wrestling team was well represented at the Doc Wright Tournament in Winslow, Arizona as the team finished in the top 15 out of 33 teams which is one of the highest finishes in recent program history. Additionally, the Bears had six wrestlers advance to a second day of competition with two earning medals. Jacob Kidd continues to cement himself as one of the best wrestlers in the state taking on all four number one ranked wrestlers from Arizona’s divisions including a top wrestler from New Mexico. Kidd beat two #1 ranked wrestlers to take third in the competition. Up next is a meet at Camp Verde on Wednesday at 2pm.

CHINO VALLEY COUGARS

The Chino Valley Cougars men’s basketball team was unable to pick up a road win on Friday losing to Northwest Christian 72-60. Cougars drop to 11-9 on the season with a 1-1 section record. Cougars remain on the road Tuesday for a 7pm tipoff against Wickenburg.

Chino Valley Cougars women’s basketball team has been struggling as of late losing their last four matchups with a 43-31 defeat at the hands of Northwestern Christian on the road Friday. Cougars are still on the road as they prepare for a 5:30pm tipoff against Wickenburg on Tuesday.

EMBRY-RIDDLE EAGLES

Kylee Reible topped the Embry Riddle Eagles with 19 points on Saturday night as the Eagles women’s basketball team handed the Benedictine University at Mesa Redhawks their first conference loss of the season with a 68-55 win. The Eagles return to the court on Thursday for a road game against La Sierra University at 5:30pm.

Meanwhile, the men’s team fell to the Redhawks 71-68 on Saturday. Embry Riddle Men’s basketball is back on the court at La Sierra University for a 7:30pm tip on Thursday.

PHOENIX SUNS

The Phoenix Suns were able to surprise some as the team picked up a win against the 31-9 Spurs on Saturday 108-105 at home. Suns record now stands at a miserable 13-27 mark on the year. The team looks to keep the momentum going tonight against the Utah Jazz at Talking Stick Resort Arena. Tip-off is 7pm.

ARIZONA COYOTES

The Arizona Coyotes had their short two-game winning streak broken Saturday night against the Anaheim Ducks being shut out 3-0 at home. It has been a tough season so far for the Coyotes who sit at 12-23-6 on the year. Coyotes start a three game road trip today at 7pm against the Edmonton Oilers.
